UNIT 1 INTRODUCTION
SAP’s Company History
1972: Five former IBM employess – Hasso Plattiner, Dietmar Hopp, Claus Wellenreuther, Klaus Tschira, and Hands – Werner Hektor – launch a company called SAP (System Analysis and Program Development). Their vision: to develop standard application software for real-time business processing. Still a private corporatio, the company is headquartered in Weinheim, Germany, with is main office in nearby Mannheim; however, the five company founders are most often found at their costumer’s computer center, including ICI on Ostringen. The first sofware program were writen primarily at night and on weekends. At the end of the first business year, SAP alreday had nine employess and a turnover of DM 620,000.
1979: SAP start to use it’s first own server, a siemens 7738 . Previosly, SAP employess carried out all development in the data centers of regioanal companies, such as ICI, Thermal, Knoll, Grunzwieg+Hartmart and Freudenberg. SAP’s first “develpoment center” is still housed in rented space; howover, work is already underway on the first satge of construction of a company headquartes building. Intensive work with IBM’s database and dialog control system provides the impetus for a new approach to SAP software. SAP R/2 is brought into the world.
1992: After successful installation at selected pilot costumers, SAP R/3 is released ti the general market. This heralds the start of new satge in SAP ‘s growth. As it celebrates its 20th anniversary, SAP intensifies its partner strategy in accordance with the expected high installation figure for R/3. Independent consulting companies support costumers during the installation of R/3.
2000: 10 million user, 36,000 installation, 1,000 partners, and 22 industry solution: SAP in the leading global provider of e-business software solution that integrate processes within and beyond company bounderies.
2004: enterprise Service Architecture delivers the first deliver the first version of SAP NetWeaver 04. The resonance fron the new integration and application platform is overhelming. SAP announces the future of the Enterprise Service Architecture. It Planned that by mid-year all enterprise application SAP will be service-based and ofter the costumer the outmost flexibility.

History of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
In the 1970’s, the concept of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system did not exist. With is R/1 systemm, SAP developed a software pruduct that handle proces data in real time and saved it to a central database. This meant that companies could access their own data quickly and have a high level of control and transparency.
In the 1980’s, these system came to be know as standard ERP system. Since SAP had broken newm ground in this area, it became the market leader.
At the beginning of 2003, SAP redefined the concept of an ERP system. It is no longer system with a database; instea, it is combination of product covering basic processes such a purchasing, sales, and production
This MySAP ERP solution is compitible with additional compenents, enabling business processes to be devined on a cross-company level.
Product Overview
All software has to be adapted to the spesific company. A small company with few employees and realitively stable processes can use preconfigured SAP system. My SAP AH4n-One is the brand name for vertical solution that are based on the technology of mySAP Business suite and were developed in conjuction with SAP’s partners. All mySAP All-in-One solution are cerified by SAP and are provided and implemented by SAP partners.
mySAP ERP
mySAP ERP is designed in such a way that copmanies can implement only the business function they need when the need them, this simplifying upgredes and reducing total cost of ownership. This soluction incorporates in the mySAP ERP Financials and my SAP Human Capital Manajemen Solution, and also contains basic functipon for operations.
mySAP Financials
the aim of this solution is to utilize a company’s funds effectively and, therefore, increase profitability in the long term.
mySAP ERP Human Capital Management
mySAP ERP is alson the core solution of the mySAP Business Suite.
SAP R/3 has been through a number of realise cycles. For each new realise, the function have been extended, application have been enhaced. SAP R/3 is developed using ABAP, SAP’s own programming languange.
UNIT 2 NAVIGATION
The SAP GUI and SAP Log On
The SAP GUI program connect the front-end computer with a spesific SAP system. For strating SAP GUI , SAP providers another program: SAP Logon. When you call uo the SAP logon, a window display a list of SAP system for wich you can strat the logon process. This list is derived from a file on the front-end computer: saplogon.ini.This file is normally preconfigured centrally and made available to end users. During logon, the SAP logon program also enables log on load dostribution using the resources available for the system selected.
Screen Structure
The SAP Easy Access screen is yhe defaukt initial screen in SAP system. The left side of the screen contains a tree hierarchy of the menus available to you in the SAP system; you can use the right side of the screen to display your company logo.
An SAP screen can contain the following simpe screen elements:
- Command File
You can start application directly by entering their transactioncode in the command file (this is hadden as default). Overview menu of the SAP Easy Access screen, in the status bar (see below), or in the application it self under System -> Status.
- Menu Bar
The menu bar is the top line of any primary window in the SAP system. The menus shown depend on wich application you are using.
- Standard toolbar
The buttons in the standrd toolbar are shown on every SAP screen. If certain buttons are not available in an application, the buttons that you cannot use are deactivated.
- Title bar
The title bar names the function that you are currently using.
- Application toolbar
The application toolbar shows the buttons available in the application that you.
- Checkboxes
Checkboxes allow you to select several options from a group a field.
- Radio buttons
With radio buttons, you can only select one option.
- Tab
A tab alows you to organize several screen areas to improve clarity and organization of data.
- Status bar
The status bar displays information on the current system status, such as warnings and errors. You can also change the display varinat to show, for example, the transaction code of the transaction you are currently using.
