Unit 3: System-wide Concept
Lesson Overview
This lesson focuses on the system-wide concept that underlie the SAP system. These concept, organizational element, master data, and transaction, are basic element designed and utilized to represent a company’s enterprise structure and business processes within the SAP system.
Organizational Element
A company’s enterprise structure is mapped to SAP applications using organizational element.
Master Data
Created centrally and available to all applications an all authorized user, master data also has an organizational aspect because its information is organized into views that are assigned to organizational element.
Transaction
Transaction are application programs that execute business in the SAP system. Example include create sales order, change costumer master.
Lesson Objectives
After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
·         State the purpose of an organizational element in the SAP system
·         Explain the purpose of master data in the SAP system
·         Explain the purpose transaction in the SAP system
·         Explain the use of IDES

*Organizational Elements
Client
The client the highesy-level element of all organizational elements; it represent in the interprise group.
Company Code
The company code is a legal independent accounting unit representing the central organizational element of financial accounting. The company code also represent the next law view of the company, the fiscal calender, the local currency, and the tax reporting requirment.
Plant
A plant can manufacture product, distribute  product, or provide a service; it is the central organizational unit of production.
Store Location
Material stock in Inventory Management can be differentiated within one plant occording to storage location.
Sales Organization
The sales organization is the central organizational element in sales orde management controls the terms of sale the costumer.

Distribution Channel
Distribution channel can be used to difine how different products reach consumers, for example, wholsale.
Organizational Unit
Organizational units describe the various business unti that exist in an enterprise. Often unit are loosely defined as functional or regional departement.
Position
Position are the individual employee assigments in the enterprise.

*Costumer Master
A costumer master contains key information that defines the business relationship between a company an it costumer. Company code data controls the posting procedure and subsequent processing, such as payments and dunning. The costumer master’s “thre-part structure” is represented by:
1.       General Data
2.       Data of Company Codes
3.       Data for Sales
*Material Master
The material master contains all of the key information a company need to manage a material within its organization. The materila master defines, among other things, bow a product is sold, manufactured, purchased, inventoried, accounted, and costed.
*Personnel File
Personnel file are master data record use primaly mySAP ERP Human Capital Management. These master records follow the same basic three-part structure, as do other master record.
*Organozational Units
Describe that various business units that exist in your enterprise. Multiple organizational units and their relationship from the organizational structure.
*Jobs
Jobs serve as desriptions, or tempaltes, that apply to serveral positions with similiar requrment, task, or other characteristics.
*Positions
Positions are individual employee assigment in the enterprise. Person occupy positions.
*Persons
Person hold positions within the organizational structure, person represent employees in your company.
*Transaction
Transaction application program that execute business processing in the SAP system. Whenever possible, master data is coupied during transaction processing, thus avoiding re-entry of data.
